Computer Requirements

For students entering the online MSL degree program in Spring 2018

These requirements apply to all students enrolling in the online MSL degree program at the School of Law. There are separate computer requirements for on-campus degree programs.

Minimum Requirements

Students are required to have access to a laptop or desktop computer that meets the following requirements:

  • Supported operating system (see below)
  • Supported web browser (see below)
  • Webcam
  • Speakers and/or headphones
  • Microphone
  • High speed internet connection

Supported Operating Systems:

  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1 or newer
  • Mac OS X Yosemite (10.10) or newer

While it may be possible to complete much of your coursework with a tablet or other mobile device, only laptop or desktop computers that meet the minimum requirements are officially supported.

Supported Web Browsers:

The two most recent versions of the following web browsers are supported:

  • Internet Explorer (Windows only)
  • Edge (Windows only)
  • Safari (Mac only)
  • Chrome
  • Firefox

We highly recommend updating your web browser to the current version. Other web browsers, including Microsoft Edge and older versions of the web browsers listed above, may work but are not officially supported.

Microsoft Office

Office 365 is available at no charge while enrolled as a student at the School of Law. This software suite includes Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. It is available for Windows, Mac and mobile devices.

Creative Cloud is available at no charge while enrolled as a student at the School of Law. This software suite includes Adobe Acrobat Pro DC for creating and editing PDF documents. It is available for Windows, Mac and mobile devices.
